Excavation and trenching safety

Excavations and trenches are becoming more common on worksites as work ramps up before season’s end. When work becomes rushed, safety incidents are more likely. In addition, there has been a recent increase in stop-work orders being issued due to excavation/trenching issues.

MHCA WORKSAFELY™ offers a training course for our industry on safe excavations and trenching. This course deals with awareness of the hazards of excavations and Manitoba’s Workplace Safety and Health regulatory requirements of contractors, including:

• Permitting and registration requirements
• The Manitoba Excavation and Trenching Guideline
• Click Before You Dig
• Manitoba Hydro procedures for soft digging and directional drilling
