November is fall prevention month

BACK TO YOU: DON HURST

November is Fall Prevention Month, dedicated to reducing falls and the injuries that result. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related hospitalizations among Canadian older adults and are a serious issue in the workplace.

Fall protection generally refers to all of the controls and the process used to lessen the impact and severity of a potential fall should it occur.

Some tips for preventing falls in the workplace include:

  • Create a safe and clean work space
  • Conduct regular risk assessments
  • Train your employees on how to properly use their tools, equipment and machinery
  • Clean up your site daily
