Protect your hearing

BACK TO YOU: DON HURST

Heavy construction worksites are noisy and can pose risks for industry workers. Failing to protect your hearing can lead to permanent hearing loss.

In time, overexposure decreases our ability to hear — it is important to know how to protect yourself and your hearing.

Protect yourself by limiting the time spent in loud work environments, rotating tasks to ensure less exposure and wearing proper hearing protection.

Wear hearing protection if you’re exposed to noise levels such as:

  • More than 85 dBA for 8 hours
  • More than 88 dBA for 4 hours
  • More than 91 dBA for 2 hours

The Hearing Conservation and Noise Control regulations can be found in Section 12 of the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Regulations. Additionally, should you have questions on the hazards of hearing or control measures, please contact your regional WORKSAFELY® advisor.
